Reflection & New Marketing Habits

Last August (2024), I took the huge step of going out on my own and establishing Aries Digital Marketing Consultancy. It’s hard to believe I’m now five months in. It’s been hard work but also hugely rewarding, and I’m excited about the year ahead.

Adjusting to Solo Work & Learning New Skills

Not being part of a team has taken some getting used to. Being able to share marketing ideas, brainstorm or being able to chat about last nights TV or football results help give a sense of team and camaraderie, I miss that for sure. Working on your own does feel isolating at times. However, the plus side is that I get to develop ideas on my own, communicate them to the client and be more flexible with day-to-day work in general.

I’ve had to learn the ropes of essential business operations that go with the creation of a limited company. I’ve gained experience in aspects that I’d not operated in before, such as finance, business registration and legalities that go with any business. I’ve enjoyed learning these new skills, they break up the usual day to day marketing activities and have helped build confidence in general.

Client Success

I’m thankful to have had some fantastic clients from day one and have also welcomed new projects and opportunities. Making sure my clients are happy and that I’m delivering positive results for them has been and will always be my priority, and so far, so good on that front. Regular catch ups with clients also helps fill the void of being able to communicate with colleagues.

New marketing habits

With all the above in mind, it’s been so busy that I’ve had to prioritise where I’ve spent my time. One of the areas which has had to take a backseat has been my own marketing and communications. As I’m now able to see the wood from the trees, what better time to change this and create a new habit for 2025!
Moving forward, I will be more regularly sharing some of my thoughts on marketing news, trends, and case studies that I find interesting. My target audience is business owners and marketing managers, so I will be pitching content at this level. If this sort of content sounds like something you’d be keen to see or learn from, then I’d be delighted if you were to follow Aries Digital Marketing Consultancy on Instagram or LinkedIn.
